‘TUNNELS’

“TUNNELS” is a children’s picture book about two friends who create and discover a whole other world just under their feet. It follows the main character, Melanie, on her voyage to find her friend who gets lost in the dark, but not before finding some other friends first! 

The story takes place in a series of tunnels, and each illustration is constructed as a tunnel itself, with different layers of colored papers that create actual depth and shadow. Within each shadow box are repurposed LED lights. The materials emphasize the story’s main motifs, and create a theatrical environment that invites the viewer in to explore. 

‘TUNNELS’ has been fully displayed at the Reinberger gallery followed by another showing at Cyrus gallery + framing. TUNNELS was also featured at the Canton Museum of Art as part of an event for ‘Milk & Bookies’, a non-profit organization that provides opportunities for children to give books back to their community and promote literacy.
