‘How to be Frog and Toad’
What started out as a fun halloween costume my partner Lex and I crafted together back in 2019 quickly became a viral sensation inspiring many Frogs and Toads to DIY around the globe.
The costumes were originally crafted from cardboard and papier mache, painted stress balls, and thrifted clothes. I was asked to create a tutorial of our process so much I eventually came up with ‘How to be Frog and Toad’, the instructional mini zine comic you can still purchase here.
Each year around Halloween I am thrilled with the new Frog and Toad creations that were inspired by the original mask designs.
Arnold Lobel’s work has long inspired me and I like to think I helped spread the love of his original work and encourage people to have fun getting crafty and embodying a frog and toad who care about each other from the coziest kidlit has to offer.
